Baby Reagan (age 14 months) has been having trouble falling asleep these last few days. Never mind we have been a little busy so her schedule has been a little out of whack. That’s neither here nor there.
ANYWAY! While spending a little time soothing baby girl in the nursery, I have been admiring the detail spent in pulling her nursery together just a little over a year ago. I must say, I’m still pleased with the results. So I figured why not share with you? **Pictures at bottom of post**
Once we found out we were having a girl, it was full steam ahead with the decor brainstorming! I didn’t want to do a traditional “themed” room with koalas or Pooh Bear or even Disney (even though I’m a Disney princess fanatic!). And even though my favorite color is pink (so cliché), I opted for purple and gray as the color scheme.
First up, painting the walls a purple/lavender. Next, picking gray furniture.
My husband wanted to find something classy, well-built and that wouldn’t cost an arm and a leg. In addition, the rooms in our house are tiny, so we didn’t have space for excessive baby gear. We opted for the Stork Craft Venetian Crib and matching dresser (the latter of which doubles as a changing table).
The next major task was finding a “bedding set” that finalized the theme. That’s where the Sweet Jojo Designs Black, White and Purple Princess Collection comes in. (See? I still got my princess obsession in there!)
All of these elements then played into the smaller detail decisions to really bring the room together. From the images used above her crib (an Etsy find!), to the scalloped mirror, to the butterfly mobile (thanks to my mother-in-law!). To add a feminine touch, we used dark purple ribbon to hang everything on the walls. And my brilliant husband thought to paint the bookshelf a dark gray to make it pop!
At the end of the day, we have a beautiful nursery that is soothing, girly and sophisticated. Exactly what I was after! I later used this same look and feel for her 1st birthday party. Stay tuned for those design details in another post!

* I apologize for the quality of these images. The lighting in that room is so difficult. Either the walls look white or they’re a pinkish purple. Time to invest in a better camera!
