Nursery Design #2 (Boy’s Room)

Toddler R is officially out of the nursery, leaving room for Baby G to claim his own space. The old lavender and grey design wasn’t going to work for baby boy, so we retooled the room some.

We used the same grey furniture as we did before. This included the Stork Craft Venetian Crib and matching rocking chair and dresser (the latter of which doubles as a changing table). We decided to reuse the hamper too.

With the basics already in place, it was time for the fun decorations part!

Just like before, we didn’t want an officially “themed” room, so we opted to decorate in various shades of blue. First up was a “bedding set” that was non-descript (no sail boats, no jungle animals, no nothing). Once we found this fabulous Babyfad Minky Baby set, we then sought for the perfect wall paint color to complement. After getting the basic elements into play, it was time to start determining wall hangings / decorations.

Stuffed Animals

Unlike before with baby girl, I had to “man up” this room a little bit. Fewer “softer” touches. But at the same time, it was still a baby’s room. And who doesn’t love baby anything?!

After some searching on Etsy, I discovered this rocket-themed stencils. This actually proved fortuitous as my hubby works in a related field. So it was like a match made in heaven—and a theme was accidentally born! Unfortunately (or fortunately!), the seller created the wrong size so it didn’t fit on our “entry” wall. But the seller was phenomenal and immediately corrected his mistake. We then had extra rockets to place around the room, which helped tie it all together.

Finally, I needed to find something new to hang above the crib that supported the new rocket theme. Then we found this three-piece custom set, again through Etsy. It really brings the whole room together.

I could not be more happy with how this little space turned out. Hopefully as he grows older, we can easily adapt the space to his growing needs without needing to do any more major renovations to this room. This is the 3rd time in seven years the hubby and I have revamped this room. He’s kinda done.
